Absolutely wonderful! and if you people are gonna spoil the movie plz say the spoiling stuff in spoilers... that way normal people that haven't watched the movie can still watch it... edit: and read this topic

I have to give it an 8... i really liked how they did a really good job of putting all the neccisary material in, unlike previous movies, but because they put it all in some of the parts seemed undeveloped. I just dont get how the longest book could turn into the shortest movie

yeah i also gave it an eight i dont think it was the best harry potter movie but i mean it was still good

Wow.....um.......it sucked prety much over all. I mean, when Sirius died, they did that well, but there were so many things wrong. Ron and hermione and almost all of the other characters practically say nothing, and the one who says the most other than harry, is Luna, and she wasa total minor. They missed so mcuh out of the book and that just ticks me off. And ok, im surprised no1 said nething about how shrot it was. Now, the book is 900 pages. 900 pages!!!!! This movie was the shortest of them all, and yet the longest!!! WTF!!!!! It really made me mad, because they altered so much, and what these pple have yet to realize, even tho Chris Columbus did, is that with movies based off novels, u cant use ur own imagination, even if there r unfilled spots or things they think need to be altered. Cho didnt rat them out. Harry was the only 1 to have to write lines for Umbridge that appeared on the back of his hand, Grawp was rude and mean, not kind and gentle. And wait until we see what they did to Year Seven cause i gaurentee, when they fail that one, they will have failed every1. My dad, who didnt even read teh books, though it was pretty bad. Now, it had its good parts, and was definately beter than 3, but c-mon, this was my second fave book so far(i havent read 7 yet) and they couldnt even capture the overall feeling of depression that the book offered, heck thats one of the things i liked about the book, it felt real, and u could believe everything no matter how horrrible things went for harry, even tho it is science fiction, this book felt real, and when i was in the theatres, it just didnt. Still, if i had to choose a favorite part, it was either when Sirius died, or when the Aurors escort harry on the brooms, that was pretty sweet!

you really have to keep in mind that a ton of things they had to make inacurate just so it would fit into the time slot better... I hate when they do that but you just have to live with it... even though they could have made the movie at least a half hour longer

Also, I agree about what you said about Chris Columbus... isnt following the exact storyline of the book kinda a good thing?

Its a great thing, and i guarantee they would make more money if they did follow the storyline exactly. And i mean, they rnt really made to have a time slot, like lotr was over 3hours, so i mean, cmon, that book was like 500 pages? i dont remember, but still, i mean HP Order of the Phoenix was 900!!! it jsut seems like they wasted so much time trying to find ways to alter the storyline for their conveniance to not have a long film, just like they did with Eragon, lol.

Aw cmon you guys must be crazy.. sure it's a 900 page book, but they did a great job at this movie! they kept a very dark mood throughout the movie the whole time and still kept it from becoming a horror or drama movie.. They also did a great job with developing the characters even all the minor ones lol. The final fight scene was also crazily cool.. and a 900 page book? but that's 600 pages of details that you see by just looking at the movie screen.. And the movie producers and editors did a great job at keeping what is important to the main plot without going off too far.. They kept Professor Umbridge hated and wicked throughout the whole movie too, which is pretty important considering she's tearing apart hogwarts.. The final fights could've been at least 10-15 minutes longer with shots on what's happening outside the fight and what the other students are doing at the school would've been nice.. They did leave a bunch of stuff out but how important was it all to the main plot.. how much did it develop the story and movie? How much emotions and importance did the things have to what's really going on?
This is about the movie.. not about the book it's based off of. Every movie based off of books leave things out because that's what books do, they put alot of everything that's in there.. movies concetrate more on the what's going on and less on the non important things because people become bored with those and forgot about the thing that they're supposed to be remembering! Also their was probably reason why it was short.. Like money and time. But i think for the length it was (which is a nice hefty length) it spaced out everything great and didn't make it so long like lotr that it would've been boring (not that lotr was boring). If that's all you guys complain about the movie is the book.. then don't blame the movie, it stands by itself lol. It's not a rating on it's trueness to what it's based off of.

Hmm i think i said the same thing 5 times...Overall it's a good movie, don't criticize it just because it's not long, good movies don't have to be long and usually aren't.. Clicking send... now

Edit: oh ya, and it's not like eragon at all! Eragon sucked and was only an hour and a half long.. They seriously cut out what was important and not important, HP just took out the unimportant stuff (mostly)

And quidditch shouldnt have been taken out, and now its not going to be in ne of them nemore, and quidditch was awesome. Also, they dont say nething about ginny and her boyfriends, the house elves and learning how the food is set up in the great hall all the time, and about ron dating lavender brown. That was good character develpment, the movie didnt have ne character development, adn with the things coming in the last two movies, they need character development. Not to mention with the things they took out, there r going to be alot of things the audience that hasnt read book 6 will not understand.

Character development

Harry Going through his Voldemort in his head... Being shunned.. becoming a teacher.. feeling wanted and getting out of his Wizard Angst.. and turning down Voldemorte when he's going through his head...

Hermione ... Loosening up some, taking charge more.. and breaking rules

Ron ... Still a scared chicken, but great friends with harry and all.. like the scene in front of the fireplace

Luna ... Messed up girl to a really cool girl and possible date for Harry at the end

The Longbottom kid ... he really went through good character development.. Being doubtful and cowardly to becoming a good wizard and fighting against that crazy lady..

Voldemorte went from an evil bald guy to an evil bald guy a fire snake.. good character development for sure

Ron's lil sister ( heck i don't remember her name) - Went from just a weasely to actually being a great wizard and pretty powerful

That's mostly it i think.. But don't tell me there wasn't character development ... You really get to know the characters alot more and they develop and change...

omg okay lol i read the book and YeS they do leave stuff out lol weve already established that. but it was still a good movie gosh! lol and when did we start talking about book six?

The problem with them using luna so muc htho pj, is that she has no baring on nething from then there on, and she didnt even appear that well. And natalie, i already said it was a good movie, they just left so much out, it really made me mad, cause 2 days before the movie and screaming my head off "AAAHHHH!!! I GOTTA FINISH THIS BOOK!!!!" just to find out i could have pretty much read 1 chapter, than skipted 2, then 1, skipped 2, etc, etc. They just altered the way u fell for the characters when they do that. And pj, there is no way what u put down for ron counts as character development, we already new he was still good friends with Harry and Hermionie, lol. And the things about Ginny Weasley being that powerful they completely made up. Never 1c in the book did they say she used Reducto, so when they do that they alter the character but what they think they would be like, and thats not right, heck if Peter Jackson hadnt acted like that when they were about to hand over the rights of The Hobbit to him, we would have already seen it, lol. And if u could, put in detail what u mean about Lord Voldemort, it doesnt make ne sense, lol. I will agree with u tho, they did do good with Neville Longbottom even though he didnt do alot of the things they had him do, but, o well, lol.

Exactly what nick said... they spent way too much time with luna I think considering how much of the plot she is for the last 2 books... i mean come on like they mae it look like luna and harry liked each other to uninformed ppl like PJ! They really should have developed Tonks more than luna, considering she has a bigger role to play in the next 2 movies... So pretty much the only characters they developed as much as they should have were the characters we already know... they should have spent a lot more time with new ppl like Tonks and Kingsley that ppl like PJ still know like nothing about.

Also this is kinda off topic but after reading the 7th book... wow the fight scenes in that would be amazingly amazing amazinging in a movie if they spend enough time on them!!!!!

Well, im only on page 250, but if they do do the action scenes right, im sure that it will look awesome. And with, i dont really think there will be much the new director will be able to leave out, but im glad he is new, cause i guarentee david yates (did order of the pheonix) isnt going to do that well with half blood prince, so, i hope this new guy follows in chris columbus's footsteps instead of the other three guys, lol.
