| Subject: Vista - Is it worth it? Tue Jun 05, 2007 7:08 pm | |
The eternal question: To upgrade, or not to upgrade? People who have upgraded to Windows Vita *coughcoughsarahcouch* seem facinated by its smoothness and looks. Although Vista did have minor problems with its initial release, it still has many strong points aside from its looks, such a DirectX 10 and Games for Windows Live (and darn Halo 2). The main reason that I havent upgraded is that i'm too cheap... but is Vista really worth my money? _________________ "All the world's a stage And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts." - William Shakespeare's "As You Like It"

I say no, unless there's huge problems (or your just annoyed) with ur current windows operating system there's no need to upgrade to something that just is smarter in a sense... Unless you've got a lot of money just laying around, it's not worth it... that wasn't a very good explanation but you get my point _________________ Lost in solipsism he then slowly pulls a lever which sets off a mechanism which does nothing whatsoever but the nothing that it does negates the everything we know because it's screaming "Just because!" because it's neither friend or foe and so we label it a menace or a grandiose work of art. From its finale to its genesis we slowly pull it all apart. That's the beauty of it-- It doesn't do anything.

My oppinon i guess is that unless you have a video card with directX 10 suppiort it isnt worth it... it may look cool but thats not what OS's are all about _________________ "All the world's a stage And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts." - William Shakespeare's "As You Like It"

hey now i feel a lot of things reflecting toward me w/ that graphics card and vista...and yeah...i think it's worth it because it it's just flippin' sweet in features...i don't even know how to explain it but the little things make it cool like the desktop notes and stuff. but that's just my opinion...but then again i don't think people should update to it unless their having problems w/ there current computer becuase it's really not to completely different

obviously they want ppl to upgrade... they want more money. But one of the big things about Vista is that the drivers for all the hardware sucks _________________ "All the world's a stage And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts." - William Shakespeare's "As You Like It"

Yeah i think Vista is pretty nice...is has a lot of sweet features...from the clock to comp usage thingy, its really handy...and it does have DX 10(brian), which is sweet...But, it is a little too expensive. It is nice, but like someone else said, unless u need it or have a lot of extra $, i don't think it is worth putting the money in to.

You can buy the academic version of Vista Home Premium for $70... and thats like a pretty good version... but you have to prove that youre a studnet to get the academic kind _________________ "All the world's a stage And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts." - William Shakespeare's "As You Like It"

Well, really, its like getting a new game, every1 wants it because its new, but if its just liek the last 1 except brighter and colurful, whats the point, i mean really, its pretty expensive for an upgreade that will only last another couple of years and then there will be another 1. Dont get me wrong, it would be cool to have, but as much as making ur computer all around better, its not really worht $100+.

back to what andrew said about the clock and stuff on the desktop...i think that is really cool because there is a bunch of stuff you can add to that panel like address book, date book, notepad (which i hate because my mom always puts note on it that say "stay off my computer sarah" grr) but then there is more relaxing and less buisnessy things to put on it like a sliding puzzle and a little slideshow of landscape pictures it's pretty neat

Yeah, when some decent games with dx10 support actually come out I may consider upgrading, but hwo knows, we may have a new computer by then _________________ "All the world's a stage And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts." - William Shakespeare's "As You Like It"

| for now, i'd just say wait until you buy a new computer that comes with it on it.. _________________ Lost in solipsism he then slowly pulls a lever which sets off a mechanism which does nothing whatsoever but the nothing that it does negates the everything we know because it's screaming "Just because!" because it's neither friend or foe and so we label it a menace or a grandiose work of art.
