Its not really faster than mine and it costs quite a bit more. The lower quality, base price dual core processor is has is pretty comparable to mine, i have 3.2 Ghz split into 2 parts with hyperthreading and it has 2 1.6 ghz processors so it works out to be the same pretty much. The memory is has pretty much sucks unless you pay a lot more for more of it. 512 Mb is like none at all these days. ! have 2 Gb (2048 Mb) of memory at a little bit slower speed of 400 MHz. Also, the graphics on that are really bad. I have a 128 Mb graphics card and it barely runs some of the newer games. But graphics are not only for games, applications need graphics too. Final Cut Studio 2
Requires 1-2 Gb of RAM, and a graphics card of 128 Mb, and the mac mini uses the graphics that are built into the motherboard, 64 Mb, which means its really slow because the processor has to deal with graphic information too. An actual graphics card contains a graphics processor that processes all the graphic information (duh) so the main processor dosent have to.
Really... for $600 in a mac mini you can get a 1.6 Ghz dual core processor, 512 Mb of RAM, and 64 Mb of graphics RAM, and like an 80 Gb hard drive. Would you want that, or what i got: $400 for a 3.2 Ghz processor, 2 Gb of RAM, 128 Mb of graphics memory, and a 120 GB hard drive? Apple just dosent really add up! Its not like theres anything that big that you can do on it that you cant do on it that you cant do with a PC. I mean sure they have better tech support and stuff, but when do PCs mess up bad enough to the point where they need it? And ppl like Colin... His computer wasnt working so he called Dell and they told him what to do. Do you really want to pay $200 more for a worse product and better tech support?
Also, ppl that want to upgrade their PC i doubt could even send it back to Apple to upgrade, 1 because they dont do that , and 2 because i highly doubt the motherboard has any PCI-E, AGP, or even PCI slots that you need to make it possible to put stuff in. No expansion slots is bad. that means you cant have any sound cards, and are limited to that one headphoen jack. With my sound card i have my 5.1 speakers taking up 3 jacks, and my headset takes up 2, one for the headphones and one for the mic. I mean it is really cool that they have something that powerful, that small, Its just that Id way rather have something bigger if it was cheaper and more powerful.
