A nice gaming keyboard is always cool, with backlit keys, and programable marcos... here are some keyboards you might consider (all retail prices):
1. Logitech G15/G11 if you dont want the LCD - $100/$70
2. Saitek Eclipse, has 3 diferent colors of backlight - $70
3. Razer Tarantula - $100
4. Ideazon Z-board - $50

I think gaming mice are the most important of the 3 perhipeals you mentioned... here are some I like
1. Razer Copperhead 2000 dpi - $70 (but i got mine off woot.com for $30)
2. Logitech G5 2000 dpi - $60
3. Fatal1ty Gaming Mouse 2400 "cpi" - $60
4. Ideazon Reaper 1600 dpi - $40

As far as headsets go, I dont really think these are that important... you can just use your speakers, and buy a $5 mic. at radioshack if you want... But if you really want one Altec Lansing makes some really ones, but for around $50. My headset is a $30 logitech one and I like it, but i only use it late at night after my parents are alseep muahaha

I say that the keyboard is definitely worth it....It just looks cool and has those lil features that make gaming just so much easier...About the mouse, idk...If you have a somewhat new mouse i don't really think it matters. Unless ur really keen on getting a few extra buttons on the side of the mouse and a pretty light, you don't really need it. And i completely side with brian on the headsets, they cost so much when you can just get just as good as a mic for 5 dollars...

yeah I completely agree with what PJ just said... some stuff on gaming keyboards is helpful, and unless your mouse sucks, you dont really need one

I think the G5 is only for right handed people... but idk cuz I have a copperhead. I think its hard for ppl to realise how much faster a good mouse is until they actually use one... it dosent seem like it could be that much diferent but it is

Is the copperhead really good tho brian? apparently it has an inside memory to customize the extra seven buttons for each game, it sounds pretty sweet geek

ITs freaking sweet! there are the main 2 buttons and the scroll wheel, but then there are 2 other buttons on each side. All of the buttons are customizable... you could switch around the right and left click buttons if you felt like it lol. You can use maros too. You can have 5 diferent profiles for the buttons, and the speed of the mouse set. You change the profile via a little button on the bottom on the mouse. You can tell what profile number it is on, because the lights on the mouse flash the number of the profile. I really only use 2 proflies, one for gaming thats fast and one for other stuff that isnt as fast.

My mouse sucked, I was using a Dell PS/2 ball mouse from 2003 with dirt and yuck, it was pretty darn horrible, I recently (today) got a good Logitech LX3 with 1000 DPI and a scroll wheel that goes left and right too, I'm happy! woohoo no more sucky stuff!

Actually all I need now to fulfill my technological leap (from integrated sound/graphics, ball mouse, sucky keyboard, gigantic monitor that weighed a ton, and 3 seperate pairs of speakers hooked up using headphone splitters TO new 512mb videocard, 5.1 surround sound with sound card, new 19 inch widescreen monitor, and new mouse!!)
HERE I COME G19 KEYBOARD

MAD WITH power!
