I hate my graphics card!!!!!! I find that in a lot of games I have to turn the detail level down really low, or my game slows down a lot. I currently have a ATI Radeon 9800, with 128 Mb memory. I think that if i got a new card I would get a Nvidea GeForce, probably a 8500 or a 8600 so I would have DirectX 10 support if I would upgrade to Windows Vista... any thoughts? What graphics cards do you guys have? _________________ "All the world's a stage And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts." - William Shakespeare's "As You Like It"

I have a GeForce 5600, 256 MB. It's ok...it's better than yours, but that is kinda because ATI is terrible...It is like the "Flavorite" brand of graphics cards...u know, the cheap generic that tastes (or runs) terrible. If i had the money, I'd get 2 GeForce 8800s, and would own at all games ever...but u dont have that...I would go with the best graphics card that doesn't requier Vista, because, like i said in my other forum, Vista isn't worth it...byebye

ATI isnt really as bad as Flavorite... its more like Adidas while Nvidia is Nike... and 2 8800 GTX's running together with SLI would be sweet... and it would like only cost about $1600! _________________ "All the world's a stage And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts." - William Shakespeare's "As You Like It"

graphics cards are the things in your computer that process all of the graphic information... what to show on your screen. one of the biggest things they are compared on is the size of their memory. Some common sizes are 128, 256, 320, 512, 640, and even 768 megabytes... Also, you can put two diferent graphics cards together to have like double the memory! so if you had two 768 Mb cards, you would have 1536 Mb, which is 1.5 gigabytes!!! _________________ "All the world's a stage And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts." - William Shakespeare's "As You Like It"

Seriously, though, Nvidia just seems beter because it is advertised by more games than ati, but in reality, they r the same, just different names. Like Pringles and Ruffles. It all comes down to some1s preference.

yeah really what nick said... actually ATI is better in the fact that they actually make their own cards so they prolly would have better customer service... Nvidia dosend make their on graphics cards, they just make the GPUs and ppl like BFG, XFX, and PNY but them in cards. _________________ "All the world's a stage And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts." - William Shakespeare's "As You Like It"

Yeah, actually, Brian, if you even see this consiering you last replied 1 year and 7 months ago, haha, you're are totally correct. Nvidia graphics cards have terrible customer support in my opinion, lol. Atleats compared to ATI. Not to mention, now ATI owns the graphics card field now with the 4850 X2 i think it is. A great card, but PC Gamer recommends like 700 watts just for one, lol. How silly, But, my 8800 GS has held up remarkably well with Crysis and many of my games, i can run crysis 1280 x 1024 at High with no lag. Very nice. So actully, i think Nvidia provides easier and mercifully price cards for the normal gamer. Only the PC Gamer editors of the world can really afford a computer that can hold 2 X2's from ATI, haha.

| Dangit, I need a new computer or graphics card I wish I could add to the conversation lol _________________ Lost in solipsism he then slowly pulls a lever which sets off a mechanism which does nothing whatsoever but the nothing that it does negates the everything we know because it's screaming "Just because!" because it's neither friend or foe and so we label it a menace or a grandiose work of art.
